The Political Deputy and Chief of Political Office of the Islamic Emirate – the respected Mullah Baradar Akhund – held a meeting with Uzbekistan Minister of Foreign Affairs – Abdul Aziz Kemalov – and Special Representative of the Uzbek President for Afghanistan – Ismatulla Irgashev – in the Uzbekistan MoFA building on Thursday. The meeting focused on historic relations between both Islamic countries, ongoing negotiations with the United States and enduring peace in Afghanistan and comprehensive discussions about Uzbekistan economic and construction projects for Afghanistan.
The respected Mullah Baradar Akhund urged Uzbek Foreign Minister to complete the economic and development projects which have been launched by Uzbekistan such as electricity for northern Afghanistan and construction of railway to the city of Mazar-e-Sharif to expand trade ties between both countries. He assured them that the Islamic Emirate will lend all help necessary in areas under their control because the mentioned projects are not specifically related to the Islamic Emirate nor are they the property of leaders of the Kabul administration, rather it is an asset of the entire nation, for the interest of Afghans and for their prosperity.
Uzbek Foreign Minister was urged to earnestly ask the Kabul administration to also remove all hurdles it has created for the implementation of these project as quickly as possible.
On Friday, the Political Deputy and delegation of Islamic Emirate traveled to the city of Samarqand in a designated train where they were warmly received by the governor of Samarqand, Mr. Erkinjon Turdimov. Later Mullah Baradar Akhund and his delegation visited the tombs of the great leader in Ahadith, Imam Bukhari (may Allah have mercy on him), and the martyred companion of the Prophet, Qutham bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) and offered their Friday prayers in the mosque of Imam Bukhari.
Mullah Baradar and his delegation accepted and joined a special dinner reception prepared by the governor of Samarqand. And before leaving Samarqand for Tashkent, Mullah Baradar Akhund was dressed in a traditional garment by the governor of Samarqand and given other gifts as per local customs.
